Windows XP Shuts down to black screen.

I have Windows XP Pro installed, everything works fine except when I try to shutdown. XP logs off fine, and saves settings fine, but then it goes to a black screen and nothing more. I can't even use the power button to shut the system off, I have to cut the power. I'm using the tyan mp s2460 motherboard with dual athlon mp 1.2 Ghz, and the AMD 760 MP chip set. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. --Kipp

yeah, mine does thst too. i thought it was because i have an xt case, but apparently not.

As far as the power issue, sometimes mine doesn't turn off either. I have a gateway with the on/off button on the front. When I hold the on/off button for like 5-10 seconds, it will power off. I've heard this problem to be anywhere from the video card to the advanced power settings. Good Luck!

Go to Control Panel/Power Options/APM and see if Advanced Power Management is checked. If it isn't enable it and see if shutdown behavior is better.
