Comment:

i have just put together a fresh system comprising of Asrock kt7 mb, athlon 2ghz, 384mb, 40gb HD (fat32) however my installation of XP Pro seems to crash at various intervals completely. The last crash was seen at the "Installing devices" stage and then i got a Power Management message saying "Signal failure" - I checked BIOS power settings and its fine. Checked my ATI PCI card and it seems fine.

At the moment reverted back to Win 98SE which installed OK. But I want my XP Pro BACK!! Any advice pls? Thanks...

The ATI PCI card may be the culprit. Try somthing newer or use the onboard video (if applicable) for the install and add it afterwards.

Usually it is incompatible hardware that causes issues like you describe. While they may work fine AFTER the install, they may hold it back to begin with.
