Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. For about a month my computer has been crashing randomly. When I start it up system 32 files are missing and I need to re install windows. I have converted from FAT 32 to NFTS and reformatted the drives but it still does it.

Today I have tried reinstalling windows XP and always gets stuck at loading kernall debugger about 2 minutes it to it. I have tried a different Disk drive. Have reset the BIOS to default. I have had this prolem before but it corrects itself if I leave it for a while. Today I havenot got much luck.

My system is

Athlon 1400
512mb DDR PC2100
39GB harddrive
64MB Geforce 2 MMX 400
Epox 8k7A motherboard

Can Anyone Help?

Regards

BArry

Before reformating. Fdisk the drive and then format. This will give you a CLEAN install and by rights you should have no prob.
When you come to the partition section click yes to NTFS.

XP has partition tools built-in therefore during setup it gives options about partitons, I believe it uses a special version of Partition Magic. Why use DOS fdisk?

hi there.try to disable usb from bios before setup, sometimes it is causing the problem.if this doesnt work, then i am pretty sure that you have a ram problem (check it out with pc check to see if it hits in address 2).many times ddr mems cause problems to setup, but you wont see the problem as windows start.this will cause problems in setup,as you wont be able to setup no matter how many times you try.if my guess is correct, this is the reason for random blue screns.this problem occurs to my manytimes.get a brand name ddr mem
good luck

I solved my problems by only booting with one peice of ram instead of 2 x 256Mb. Still not sure if memory faulty or if just problem during set up.

Hope this helps people

Baz
