Hey guys. I have a question for some experts. I have XP Pro on my comp, but I lost my XP disc during a move. I want to install the service pack I see when I run windows update, but it won't let me without having the key # from that disc. Does anyone know if there is any way around that? I'd hate to have to buy another disc just for this. Please let me know. Thank you.
as far as i know, you don't need the product key to install service pack 1. But, you do need a valid key to go along with your XP install...sounds like you have a bootleg copy of XP and it will not allow you to install the service pack with the current key on record with your install

If Windows XP is activated the service pack should install without the need of a key or the XP CD.
