Ok Windows updates wants me to download Windows XP Service Pack 3.Is this a good thing?

It depends on who you ask. I've installed it on 4 systems so far & only had a minor glitch with the wireless on one of them, but it was an easy fix. I'm going for #5 tonite.

Some people like to install all the latest updates. I'm not one of those. When it comes to computer code, I'm of the 'if it ain't broke' persuasion. I didn't install SP1 or SP2 until some programs that I run required Sp2.

System #5 (K6-2/500MHz, ALi based board, 352MB PC100, GF4 MX440) is up & running with SP3. No problems.

aegis, you're a computer hacker's dream. Hotfixes and service packs are primarily to fix problems that Microsoft has discovered. With thousands of programmers, there's bound to be holes here and there. By having the latest update, you effectively render previous holes from being exploited.
