When I use Start>Search, I never receive any results. I went to the Microsoft website and found a patch that is supposed to fix the problem but doesn't. When I attempt to apply the patch, I get an error that says something like I don't need the patch because I've already installed Service Pack 1a. Does anybody have any ideas on the subject?
If NoFind has the value 01 00 00 00 change it to 00 00 00 00 then restart.

Toe_Cheese, Go to the link below and under the letter "S" scroll down to "Search - Doesn't Work" where you'll find a possible fix. There's alot more fixes below that one.

Same reply I gave to Sam28_78:
I have had to set a shortcut on the start menu for a couple of people and the fix works fine. Dell is aware of their issue and are working on it( per Dell tech support). Create a shortcut on your desktop. Rt click blank area on desktop /New shortcut/ In the type location of file type in the following: hcp://services/centers/homepage Click next and give it any name Ex: "My Computer Help" without the quotes. Click finish and all should work fine. You can create the same shortcut and put it in the all users startup folder so all users will have access to it. Then click Start - Put your pointer on All Programs and look at the top of the list.
