Windows XP restarts just when desktop loads

Specs: win xp sp2, p4 1ghz/128MB ram x2
This afternoon, after successfully installing a game to
my friend's computer, I tried to load it. An error
appeared and said "DEBUG ASSERTION FAILED"
and the screen went black. So I tried pressing the
power button until the computer shut down.

When I learned that the game did not work, I tried to
install another one. With the computer turned off, I
removed the current DVD DRIVE and replaced it with
a CDRW DRIVE (because the DVD Drive is already
choosy with CDs)

I started the computer and when it went to the
desktop, the computer restarts automatically... what
could be the problem..? help.. thanks in advance..

Try starting in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, uninstall the game and then ALSO do a system restore to before you tried to install the game (this will fix any problems with windows that the game may have affected). If not, then try starting to 'last known good configuration', I believe to get to that menu you need to press F6 at start up, but may vary).
In the future, make sure that software is compatible with XP and it is from a trusted source before installing.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
