hello!
I am having some problems with my computer today.... whenever I start my computer it will show me a black screen with several options like : boot into safe mode, last good configuration, normal etc... the problem is that whenever i select either options it will reboot the computer so I can't get into windows at all. I want to disable the autoreboot but I can not access windows so there is no way I can do it.
I was reading about "WMIC" command but my windows cd does not appear to have that command so i can't use it :(how can i disable auto reboot so I can at least see some error message?

Brilliant Jam!
Do you have your Windows XP CD?
If so, boot up with that and choose "R" at the first menu, that will get you into the recovery console, from there, at the prompt, type in "chkdsk /r" without the quotation marks.
Let check disk run, it may take some time, but when it's finished, type in "exit" and let the system reboot. Hopefully it will fix any system files that may have gotten corrupted.
If that doesn't work, post back.
Good Luck!

Failing power supplies are common and can cause your symptoms.
Check your PS.
See response 4 in this:

See the latter part of response 1 in this:
http://www.computing.net/windows95/...If you don't have a floppy drive, you can get a CD image diagnostic utility from most hard drive manufacturer's web sites, but obviously you would need to make a burned CD, preferably a CD-R for best compatibilty, on another computer if you need to.

Your use of "either" is wrong. Either is used for two comparisons "EITHER this OR this". so much for making grammatical suggestion.
Have you tried LAST GOOD CONFIG ? Did it not work? If yes, then you have no other choices remained, but to use original XP CD and do as jam/Musky suggestions.

i tried using the command but it did not work :S
it did not even execute :'(
it said the volume had more than one unrecoverable files :|
now what?

If chkdsk wouldn't even run on the system, then I suspect the hard drive is toast. Try Tubesandwires suggestion about running the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic disk to be sure, but I'm pretty sure it will tell you the same thing.

I too have the same issue. I tried the the windows XP CD, but this has not resolved the problem. Does anyone has any further advice?

You will get more answers if you start your own thread Subject.
You can do that at the bottom of any forum lists of subjects.
You need to supply as much detail as you can about your situation and what you've tried etc.
