Windows XP Repair Install

Microsoft Windows xp home sp2

Specs: Windows XP

I had some problems with my pc and decided to repair install my Windows XP. However, before it could finish installation, my computer was turned off by accident.

So I now have an unfinished windows XP installation. How do I complete this installation?

Upon restart, Windows obviously does not load. When I try to repair install again, I see that the operation system is already located on the main partition. Should I install Windows XP a second time in the same partiition? Or is there a way to complete my initial installation?

I apologize in advance, I have made some very ill choices in attempting to fix my computer. Any and all help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Why can't you just repair the repair? Just make sure you do it right:

Sorry. Actually, after the failed REPAIR INSTALL, the option to repair install is no longer available. The only option listed is to install Windows XP. Does this mean my hard drive will be wiped clean if I go this route?

Is there no way to complete the unfinished repair installation of windows xp previously?

You could try running fixmbr and fixboot from the recovery console.

make a dual boot of XP. and save your data.

There are many ways to go about this, but if it's the data you're afraid of losing the easiest way would be to (if you've got the know-how) put your harddrive in another computer (either by PATA/SATA or through an external chassis) and copy the data you want, then put it back and do a clean install of Windows. That would be the best option all together because it's simple, takes the least amount of time and will give you the best end result.
