Windows XP randomly access floppy drive

My XP installation started frequently accessing the A: drive at random intervals for no reason. Is there something going wrong with the installation or some setting that I need to change? Thanks

go into device mannager and disable the floppy. I had the same problem and i just disabled it. You probably dont use the floppy anyway except for installing windows

ok, this worked for me, but it takes a few minutes for XP to catch up on the changes you make so if it keeps doing it a few times after you make these changes try rebooting the system.
start/control panel/taskbar and start menu/[start menu]/[customize]/[advanced]
and at the very bottom click on the [CLEAR LIST] button
It's up to you but I also shut off (unchecked) the LIST MOST RECENTLY OPENED DOCS button
if you access the floppy for something it puts it in this list and will try and keep a cache of whats there for you.
