OS: Windows XP Media Center E
CPU/Ram: Intel centrino Duo 1 gig
Product: Toshiba satellite m115-s3
Comment:

I'm using a Toshiba satellite laptop with windows xp media center loaded. I want to load windows xp pro on it, but I'm not certain if it would be compatible. This computer has the little "Designed for windows xp" flag on it, but I want to make sure before i buy something. I'm getting a new OS because of some driver compatibility issues with MCE.

Why not just correct the driver issues instead of wiping the drive & starting from scratch? What issues are you having?

As all versions of XP use the same driver base, I do not feel that installing an alternative version of XP will cure your ills. The first step if you feel you need to install XP is to use the Recovery CD's to re-install WMCE.

I use my computer for music production, the reason I'm switching OS is that a lot of the equipment I need uses drivers that support windows xp home or pro, and specifically state MCE is not supported. Would the other versions work on my computer?
