Hiya,
the pc just keeps freezing. Most often when media files are being played with Realplayer or Windows Media Player. The computer system should be adequate in various ways, to support XP. I even tried to remove voodoo card (5.0, 64MB) and used on board display, thinking that it might be the hardware incompatibility. But no... it also freezes while word processing, but rarely.Any solutions please? It's driving me nuts.

If you have on-board graphics card, but use a 'normal' graphics card, then you probably have to disable the on-board stuff via your BIOS settings.
If that's not the case, then it seems like a graphics card driver problem to me, but perhaps someone else has a better idea.

thanks svg,
in fact, tried to use the on board chip instead of Voodoo. Or disabled the on board and used Voodoo. Neither way worked.Any idea?

Voyage,
I had the same problem with XP Pro and it drove me crazy. I replaced my graphics card, sound card, edited registry keys, changed the BIOS, reinstalled, nothing worked. I recently got Cable since where I moved DSL wasn't an option. My cable providers homepage just happened to have a rating of popular browsers featured on their homepage after booting the very first time so i decided to download and try "Opera" as my browser. I decided to download Netscape as well since I had always liked the format but in the past had loaded so slowly but I'm at 1.5K so who cares now right?. Well guess what? Running Opera and Netscape I noticed the first day I had completely stopped freezing up. (I had disabled IE6 while I was checking this out). When I ran Internet Explorer whammo! That old familiar freeze again. I uninstalled IE6 and haven't had a single freeze in over 2 months. Try it and see if it works for you.

HI Dave,
I tried to follow what you have done. But somehow I was unable to uninstall IE6! Is it because it is embedded in xp's system?! Also, even I have associated all file types with Netscape, the stupid ads thta pop up from time to time are still shown with IE browser! I have no idea how to completely eliminate the IE browser from the computer. And worse still, after I struggled quite a bit to work on the regedit, the windows just froze again, even no media file was open. It seems like there's sth wrong with the system, obstinate. Any idea??
