Windows XP problem with taskbar

Hi.
I installed Windows XP yesterday, and today I'm having trouble with the taskbar. Ordinarily, it should only require a single click on an item on the taskbar to activate that program; for me, it seems to require three clicks. The first click does nothing except cause the taskbar icon to flash blue. The second click minimizes that program. The third click finally maximizes the program. This seems like a rather odd problem to me, especially since it was working fine yesterday. I found one other post regarding this problem, but I saw no replies to it. Has anyone figured out how to fix this problem?

does it happen with particular program, or with everything? I'd say its a process running causing the system to hang a little. What are your system specs? It's not just taking a while to "think" as you don't have much RAM is it?
