CPU/Ram: 3.4ghz 1meg L2, Infenion
Comment:

Hi,

I just recently built a computer, but i used my old harddrive.

The parts that i put together are as follows:
Intel 915 LGA 775 Socket T
3.4ghz Intel Pentium 4 with 1meg L2
Sapphire x600 256meg PCI-E video card
512 Infenion DDR2 ram
On board audio.
80gig Seagate harddrive from Sony PCV RX 560
Antec Super Mid Tower with 350W power supply

So i put everything together turned it on and all i get is my old linux boot loader- lilo. I tried getting to windows but it said ntloader not found insert boot media.

So i try to do a clean install of my new version of Windows Xp Pro. So i get to the point where it installs and says please remove floopy disk, reboot will procede in 15 seconds or something like that. So the computer reboots and i get "To boot from disk press any key" so i press enter and then it says setup is determining hardware or something like that, then nothing happens.

So i have a version of Mandrake Linux 9.2 and i try to install it and it works perfectly, and during the installation it shows the harddrive and shows that it is a windows drive. So everything goes well with the linux install and it even boots back up and i can use it.

So i try to get windows xp pro to install over it again, the same thing happens, it gets to the reboot and after it reboots nothing happens, as if the harddrive doesnt recognize it.

Right now in the bios i have the cd drive set to first boot sequence then the harddrive, then the floppy.

In bios it also shows that i have a hard drive and shows the correct size and everything. So i dont know what is going on.

I am getting frustrated and i dont have any clue what to do. Can any of you help me?

Download and run Delaprt to remove all partitioning. Then retry the XP Pro install.

Had you not had linux installed and running I would have suggested changing your PSU as 350w is to low , 420w is min on your set up,
It may still help as windows likes to show off and investigate your system in every way posible drawing more amps than the national grid,
