Hi All, Whenever i start my system it doesn't play the WINDOWS XP SOUND.. It was working few weeks back but not now. The sound is working well in all the other profiles which are Limited users and i m the ADMINISTRATOR of the system. I tried few of the steps mentioned in your websites but it failed.. WINDOWS SOUND played when i play the Windows XP Startup.wav but it fails when i restart my computer...

No the speakers are connected to the green jack and the sound is working well its just that the WINDOWS START UP SOUND is not working in my profile...

Hi vkyhunk
Go to control panel and open Sounds and Audio Devices. Click Sounds tab, select windows default from drop down list and apply it.

Search for .wav files in C:/WINDOWS/Media. If your .wav files are there then certainly its an sound scheme issue... Otherwise Try assigning a new sound to windows start up (preferably a .wav file). and see if it works........
