Comment: Hi, I built a computer a while back, and instaled an oem copy of windows, and activated it, i have later had to re install, and when trying to activate have found that it says my product code has been used to many times, ive only used it once! Is it only possible to activate an oem copy once? Would activating by phone work? Do you speak to a real person or a computer? Thanks Darren Thanks,

Reply: (edit)I have activated my OEM win XP Pro 3 times and once was by phone to a REAL-LIVE person. I expected a nightmare but was pleasantly surprised by a very helpful and courteous Microsoft employee. I guess miracles never cease! However, I think there have been some changes regarding activation within the last 3 months or so and my experience was about a year ago. Can't hurt to try tho! Good luck.

Reply: (edit)Yes, you will get an automated and real person. MS seems to be out of their minds. I have a bunch of home use pro and home xp OEM cd's. Every one had gone over the limit. Each time I have to fool around when the system is borked and call and answer why I am doing this. Makes me mad by the way. It will take some time and you can't use the numbers again so don't bother to save them. Once you activate it you might consider a hd image software to help avoid this nightmare. I made Ghost copies. Since I change stuff sometimes I still have no choice but to reload the system from scratch. Also see about a slip streamed with sp2. You almost need it before you connect to the internet. Otherwise get the full sp2 package. What I understand is they are making the number of changes less so more (goody) people get to call when the official MS word is to reload OS.
