Windows XP Pro Locks on Loading

As from some other posts with the same issue this is what I've done and noticed so far...

Since getting drive lockup and having to reboot(reset) I've reinstalled my Operating system on a new drive using Acronis True Image and reinstalled some last minute programs such as anti-virus. Since doing this I noticed within the week I was getting the same lockup issues.

The Event Viewer doesn't tell me anything exactly but I did notice that MAYBE it's an iPod software related issue looking for a program. I've also loaded DVDFab and sometimes when converting files to AVI the program will crash or reset the pc by rebooting which may have caused some OS issues...don't know exactly.
The only other thing I can think of is that Microsoft has put out an update that is causing the issues for users related to Windows 7 or something.

Other than that I do the same operations each day, so why am I getting this issue???

I have an ASUS motherboard Dual core 2.8Ghz with 4Gb Ram

Does it behave in Safe mode?

I haven't tried it in safe mode and it's not like it's happening to me every time I load Win XP. I'm trying to determine if it's a certain program, but some of the programs do things in the background which makes it hard to nail down which one exactly is giving the problem.

Others who have had the same issues were getting a freeze in safe mode that I've read.
