Comment:

I have been trying to install Windows XP Pro on my laptop and I keep running into the same problem. Once the system boots from the CD, it says that "Setup cannot detect any installed hard disk drives" - this does not make sense because I am currently on my laptop right now and the harddrives obviously work.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy.

Are you running SATA or PATA?

If you are running SATA, you will need to provide the windows xp setup with the drivers of your SATA controller.

You could find out through Device Manger, BIOS, or User documentation.

However, to install the drivers during setup you need to have a floppy drive - which I am guessing your laptop does not have. You *mihgt* be able to do it with a USB floppy drive or you cuold add the SATA drivers to the install disk which is a littel involved.
