Hello,
I want to partition my hard disk into 2 parts (named C: and D:) , and I would like to install XP on the partition called D: . Is that possible, or does WinXP always has to be installed on the partition called C: ?
I know how tot partition hard disks, so I just want to know if it is possible to install windows on D:
Thanks!

If you set XP up on D:, keep an eye on where software is being install by their install programs when you are installing software. A lot of software sets up on C: by default.I have 98 on C: and XP on H: at the moment. But will change that shortly. I have just installed XP to try it out. I like it so I am going to put it on a C: drive. I say "A" C: drive because I will have two, like I have had in the past with NT and then Windows 2000. How? If you set XP up using NTFS formatting, Windows98 will not recognize XP because 98 cannot read files on NTFS partitions. 98 will recognize that there is a NTFS partition on the hard drive, but that is the extent of it, it can't read the files on the partition. Since 98 does not recognize NTFS, it will not know that XP is on an NTFS partition setup on C:, and therefore 98 can be set up on a FAT32 C: partition on the same hard drive. Even though 98 is setup on C: in a Fat32 partition, which XP can read, XP will recognize that drive as F: or H: or whatever, based on what kind of hardware you have on your computer.
