Afer reloading Windows XP to fix a problem I have no sound. I think it is a sound card driver problem but when I tried to download Relatek AC97 the PC crashes each time the driver installation tries to change the registry [Adware lets me know this is happening and I tick OK]. Any advice how to fix this please?
Are you sure you have the correct sound driver? Does your motherboard (or sound card) use a Realtek audio chip? If you know the make/model of your motherboard (or sound card), go to the manufacturer's website & download the sound driver.

The motherboard with integral soundcard was an Asus product and I downloaded their suggested driver and now all is OK. Thanks for the help.
