I've recently upgraded my graphics card to the MX420 on AGP. Now my XP system seems to reboot when Im playing games (mostly Warcraft III)

Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks,

M

Upgrade to 3.0.8.2 from the Creative site, but still got problems.

I've experienced something similar. I *was* using 30.82. When I played a game, it would crash back to desktop. I upgraded to 40.72 drivers for my GeForce4 MX 420 64mb card, and now it no longer crashes, but it does reboot if the game is played or left idle for 10mins.

I suspect we'll have to wait for the next driver version and hope that the problem gets fixed.

Don't you mean the nVidia website?

OK, I've just put on the 40.72... crossing fingers that I can finish the level of WC3 now...

Thanks for the tips / guidance...

BTW - I bought a Creative branded MX420, hence the creative site. Is there any difference between the NVidia drivers and Creative (Other than a major release version)

O.K. - updated drivers to 40.72, and just had another reboot. Lasted a bit longer this time...

The XP message in the sys event log is;
Error Message: STOP: 0x0000009C (0x00000004, 0x00000000, 0xb2000000, 0x00020151)

Any other thoughts..?

I too am haveing the reboot issuses. but it's not always when i'm playing games..happens when i'm doing just about anything...for no apparent reason. I'm running a KT4 mb with an AMD xp 2000 along with a MX 420. One second i'm in the middle ofdrivers gameing (or even just browsing the web) and the next, out go the lights. i usually get a blue screen of death for a split seccond. I've been checking around and i've heard several reasons why this could happen... insufficient cooling, bad ram, bad power supply, and video . Most people seem to think it's overheating issues. hope that little bit helps. If i figure my situation out i'll let ya know.

Sutter
