I reformatting and reinstalling my windows xp again but the CD disk this time stated "missing driver.cab file".
The installation was completed without this file but I am worried about what problems may lie ahead.
Is there any way I can retrieve this file somewhere or is it not needed? I think my CD is all scruffed up and that maybe the reason why because it never had this error message before in my first installation.

Usually it means that a piece of your h/ware is not compatible with Xp, generally the motherboard, I'd suggest flashing your BIOS to the latest version, and then reinstalling Xp.

Yeah, AFTER you have flashed your BIOS to the latest version, unless it already is.
