Kindly help:
I am using Win Xp on my inspiron and set up a home network though the Linksys router with Destop (Win 2000) where I used to share the printer and files. For some reason I have lost all the settings of the network, printer and file shareing.

Hi xck,
I bought the inspiron 8100 (xp pro) Nov10,01.
The computer had settings for work network as well as home network.
For some reason when I connect the computer to work network - the message is-
cannot find local profile
insufficient security
corrupt local profile-contact ntwork admin
loading temp profile
changes made would not be saved-a 30 sec clock starts and I see the same kind of settings when the computer was first connected. Any file, cookies or download does not get saved after logout

maybe you have to setup your network profile using the adminstrator account...

or setup your home network using "network setup wizard" (start>all programs>accessories>communications>network setup wizard)

or config manually...if you see the first pc setting, you have to change the last ip number...

My Compaq 5010 occasionally freezes when I go to Internet Explorer Favorites. Everything is working fine and after going to Favorites a dozen times before, as I am scrolling down the systen freezes. Last night, I turned off the computer since it was totally frozen (no Ct-Al-Del works)and when it booted back up it said no profile. All my settings are gone. I tried going to Control Panel and resetting the user, but nothing. Every program I go to (Internet Explorer, Outlook, et c) starts up like it was the first time and wants to re load. I'm afraid I'll lose my addresses and email files. Is this a problem common in XP...I just dumped ME since it was a piece of cra#.
Help!! What to do?
