Windows XP- Logs off when trying to login

September 24, 2010 at 06:02:17
Specs: Windows XP
A virus that corrupted my registry was removed by an anti-virus program....so I think that now one of the corrupted files that was removed is preventing me from logging in. Ive seen a few solutions but theyre not much help because :

1. Whenever I try logging in with safe mode, it just freezes
2. I dont have an XP disc to repair my settings
3. I dont have another computer on the network from where to access the registry

I Hope anyone answering can try to keep the language simple =) Im alien to the world of computers

When booting in SM, Windows displays the list of drivers it loads.
If it went that far, can you tell us after which one it froze?

Regardless, you might need a bootable CD. If you have access to another computer, get Ultimate Boot CD or Hiren's BootCD 11.0

Which anti-virus program are you using?
