Hello,
Yesterday I was cleaning my computer and found a folder with an application. Stupid enough I click on it.My antivirus was active but it didnt help me because then it started:I was kicked out of windows desktop to windows logon page where my user account (only one on this computer) is asking for a password which was never set.
What I ve tried since is this:

http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/...
everything went ok just to the point where I have graphical access to my user accounts but:( message say it cant find user accounts and I should reboot and try it again.Which I did and had the same result.
Then I was at least able to run safe mode(I had blue error message screen before reinstaling xp) but again I can only get to the windows logon screen. But as well as my user account there is also administrator account asking for pw too.
When I tried to run system restore I end up at the point where I´m asked for that administrator password.
Since yesterday a read lot of stuff but nothing what really works.
Please help me to save my data!!!
I got Win Xp installatin Cd is there any help for me???

The safest way may be to install a second harddrive and install your OS to that drive while the original drive is disconnected. Once you have a working computer you can scan the other drive with your updated AV program.

Without knowing what you may be infected with it is a crap shoot, whatever you do. Writing to the original drive could overwrite something.

I suppose now isn't a good time to talk about the merits of backing up your data?

Did you try just leaving the password blank and clicking enter? That usually works

And you followed the instruction on:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/...
fully?

I would retry that link you gave again, there may have been a small slip on your part.

You have no idea how much I regret that double click from yesterday.Lucky enough I backed some of most important files but it s far from being comfortable.

I m thinking about putting this laptop drive in the desktop computer,is it same like what you have described above?
Is it really my only option, isn´t there way for recovering current windows?
Thank you

obviously I did try to leave that bloody line blank but as it is malware most obviously,it aint work!

What kind of slip you mean? I get through windows reinstallation correctly then I did press shift+F10 during "installing devices" .I had command console poped out and the user accounts window.I thought I got it finally but then error message stopped it.
It is working if you just cant remember your password not when you got this virus in!

I don't really know if a repair install would rectify things.
It may be worth a try if you have an actual XP install Disc (not a restoration disc)

Thanks for your input.

Sorry, I can't see where you said you did a repair install. All I see is that you tried a system restore?
