Subject: windows XP login BIG PROBLEMOS: Windows XP HomeCPU/Ram: 1.8gHz/256mB |
Comment: I have a very large problem. Well, it all started when i was playing around in DOS with my workgroup settings. I'm not sure what i did exactly but when i restarted my computer... it wouldnt let me login. Before anything loads, an error dialogue pops up saying "ur account is configured to prevent you from using this computer. Please try another computer". The problem is that this is the ONLY admin account on the computer, so there is no one else that can change this but me. But now i cannt even login to the account. I dont want to have to format everything, because there are files i still need in the admin account. I've tried to do a system restore from another user account except as the admin user, but it tells me that "User is not allowed to log on to this computer". Please help.

Reply: (edit)I ran across this info the other day and might be what you have done. Go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm and scroll down about half way till you see "Applications - Restrict Applications Users Can Run" If this is so, you just might have to format, unless someone has a better idea. I'm not ignorant, I just need more learning!

Hmm... maybe its something to be proud of... or just cry because all my documents are gone because i couldnt back them up. It wouldnt let me access any of my files.. boooooo. I formatted everything and i vow to never touch things i dont know anything about again!
