Using a Compaq Presario Laptop Computer and when it is turned on it will go as far as getting to the Windows XP Screen where it is supposed to have the user log in boxes and they do not load so that you can log in and load your personal settings and go into the programs. I have tried to restart in Safe Mode using F8 and it still stops in the same place. I have tried to load the last know good configuration and it still stops in the same place?

Actually, it does exactly the same thing in Safe Mode as it does on a regular start up, It appears to be loading....I get the compaq screen, then the windows xp screen and then the screen that usually has the log in icons on appears only the icons are not there nor the log in boxes for the passwords. Even in safe mode there is no log on box so I can't even get into the internet to perform that upgrade if i wanted to.

At the Windows Welcome screen that has no logon icons, try CTRL +ALT +Delete I forgot if you do that once or twice to bring up another way to logon.
If you give your Presario model number, I will look in Compaqs website for any issues.
