Ok when i start up my Windows XP pro. i open task manager right away to monitor all the programs being loaded and unloaded and how muhc mem they take up... well i'v noticed a very large downfall in system proformance so this is why im doing this.. i see 3 things taking up what seems to me like to much memory.. i have sapisvr.exe wich im pretty sure is a windows XP thing, then i have snmp.exe which is a windows XP thing, then i got explorer.exe which is also the an OS thing.. when i open progs these 3 programs ( not all at the same time but they take turns ) seem to take up alooot of memory and my HDD light flickers like crazy for a long time, i want to guess and say there is a memory dump, what do you think?
i just wanna kno why they are suddenly takin up so much memory, i mean i cant even open IE without it taking 5 mins cause these progs are slowing down my computer

The cause of your mysterious unknown problem resides in a program you have identified as “sapisvr.exe.” Basically, “sapisvr.exe” is a speech recognition program created by Microsoft and is installed by some manufacturers. After you install Microsoft Office XP or other speech-enabled products by using Microsoft's Speech application programming interface (API. This behavior can occur because the speech recognition tool is “listening” to your voice through your computer's microphone and is attempting to recognize what you are saying. In order to remedy this situation, you can turn off the speech recognition software.
— Go to Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options
—Look under the Languages tab, click on the button labeled “Details” under “Text services and input languages.”
—Under Installed Services, select Speech Recognition and click the button “Remove.”
—Click “OK” to apply the changes.
—You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
There may come a point when you want to enable speech recognition. In this case, take the following steps:
—Right click on the Office XP Language bar and select “Settings.”
—Click “Add.”
—Select English under “Input Language.”
—Click to select the Speech Recognition check box, and the click “OK.”
Now you know how to turn on and off the speech recognition engine. However it does SAP up a lot of resource BOTH CPU and Memory.

Hey thank you alot sir, i found out it was a speech recognition program and thta it would suck up alot of memory like that.. oh well i guess i gota stop letting my dad use my computer hehe
time to get back to studing for my tests
