Hi everyone,

This is my first post at this forum. I'm hoping someone can help me out with a frustating computer problem.

If there's a better utility that'll copy and paste info, please let me know.

Here's a system info picture below

Basically, my computer just started to freeze right on the windows loading screen. When it freezes, I hit reset, but then my hard drives show up on bootup all weird.

for example, my bootup normally shows my maxtor as "Maxtor 6L300R0" and on bootup after a freeze it shows Maxtor 6L300R0 BAJ41HG20.

when i try to get into bios, IT FREEZES too.

Only when I shut the computer completely down, does it list my hard drives normally and let me get past my windows login screen.

Oh, and my motherboard is a Shuttle AK32V if that helps.

What's going on here? :o

-Travis

Is this a new system? It almost sounds like your hard drive jumpers are set incorrectly. That's the only time I've seen BIOS report drives incorrectly.

Try disconnecting any external devices and drives other than C:. If that doesn't make a difference, try pulling any cards that aren't really necessary.

Try a different IDE/SATA cable. I had that happen to me when a cable was bad.

Hmm I wonder what happened to decency and morality? Doesn't anyone remember them?
