windows xp installation trouble

I am building a new computer. During installation of windows xp the compter turns off at the beginning of setup. Any thoughts?

I had the same trouble. I discovered 2 problems...incompatible hardware (RAM and HD) was one issue. RAM can often cause these issues. Check out www.memtest86.com to check your RAM to make sure it is OK. You will need to follow instructions and make a boot disk. When you start the program, let it run for about 15 minutes or so and then check for error messages. If you have multiple sticks of RAM, I suggest you remove one and test only one at a time. Once this was resolved, I just restarted my CPU and the installation continued where it left off.

Yes i would agree if you go into bios you should if you have a half good mobo find a setting that controls your ram to fix it just try load bios default settings then no.2 buy your self some GOOD!ram cause only cheap ram has that prob then 3 read your manual front to back then from back to front 9 out of 10 times the answer is in there
