I can't seem to get my system to install XP, it only reaches as far as file copying and it locks up, i try to wait for it, it lasted for 2 hours with no activity whatsoever!! my system config is Athlon TB 1 gigs, GeForce 2 MX 400, 256 Mb pc 133 Hyundai, Seagate Barracuda 40 Gigs and Quantum 30 Gigs, MSI K7T Turbo raid SB Live! OEM.
If anyone have the solution for it please contact me via e-mail, thanks in advance!

Have you tryed installing the raid drivers during setup? It will tell you when to press F6 to install raid drivers.

sandman

I'm having similar problems to Ary

what does installing the raid drivers actually do - does it affect the OS once it's in?

If you have Windows XP Full, you can try formatting your hard drive and installing on that blank hard disk. Worked for me.

I've never really had the chance to play with raid setups. I would think though that if Xp ask you to install before you even install the os i would think it is fairly important. My best guess is that loading the raid drivers during setup will allow Xps setup to install properly on the raid setup.

Like I said this is my best guess so if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

Were you installing on a clean formatted hard drive? I had a similar problem with xp pro full version ...windows indicates copying files to drive but hard drive light remains on for hours and installation never completes, even after restart.
This was fixed by reformatting drive (all important data should have already been saved) and running win98 setup up to the point of creating a boot start up disk. When start up disk creation was finished, the win98 installation was cancelled. From that point on, setup of xp pro was run from cd drive.

did you get it figured out? i have 'the' solution. i have the same video card as you and i ran into the SAME problem. to install XP, you just need to install a different video card. my GeForce2 64mb MX just locked up my computer during install everytime. and i guess i'm not the only one, something with the comatibility. just find a cheap video card, (nVidia TNT2 32mb is what i used) and try installing XP all over again. i'm 99% sure it will work then.

I have the same damn problem! I have a Visiontek XTASSY 5564 AGP, it has a NVIDIA GFORCE 2 MX400 chip, and does the same crap!!
i'm gonna see if someone can lend me another video card, so I can try it again!, then, I guess I would install my other card back!
(it really sux that Microsoft hasn't fixed this problem, lots of people are gonna hate XP because of this and MANY other problems!!)
