Windows XP installation prob

initial problem: pc would boot upto a dark black scree with only the moouse pointer showing tried to reinstall win xp pro...after initializing, it rebooted and go stuck at the blue scree with mous pointer showing again... moving on: used FDISK to format HD and start fresh install..same result...blue screen and mouse pointer... Thought I should try using the 6 XP boot disks downloaded from micrSoft websit...it started booting and then on the 6th disk, it gave the following error: STOP: c0000221 unknown Hard Error \SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll Any clue guys? please help.

Well... Have you added any new devices in your system recently??? Like a Zip Drive or any PCI card... If No then, Run a Diagnostic on your Hard Drive...I have seen this particular BSOD relating to a Bad HDD too...
