Windows XP Installation Hangs

I recently built my own computer with the following specs.
During my installation of Windows XP Professional (non-64bit) I am experiencing a hang right after the initial "Windows is loading files" driver stage of the process. I am able to reach the very first "Press F8 to continue" but it never gets to the HDD detecting and partitioning stage. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is.
1.) I think it is hardware related but can't figure out what part it would be.
2.) I tried installing the Windows Vista Beta 2 disk and it loaded the initial files then restarted.
