I try to clean install Windows XP pro. the installation freeze (format, copy installation files, then freeze). I try install Windows 2000 too. It also freeze (in the finall step of the installation). I can install Windows 98 on my computer without problems. I also use the Microsoft Windows Installation Advisor program, and there are not blocking problems. What could it be?

Try using a different HAL , when Setup says to press F6 for third party drivers , press F5 and choose Standard PC for the type of computer . my first observation here would be that of a hardware problem. Then i noticed your ram.Although xp can be used with 128 ram, you should try to upgrade to 256 then reinstalling..especially on older pc. hope this helped. rc
