windows xp home-boot failure

my windows xp home just crashed. when i turn on the computer, "boot failure. Please insert boot disk in A:". i already download windows xp home boot disk, but i lost my windows xp home cd. could i use windows xp professional instead? i'm really confused. I would really appreciate any effort to help. thank you

i tried to use boot disk then i use windows xp professional later. but what appears on the scree is "please insert your windows xp home cd". It's as if the system is rejecting my windows xp professional cd. what can i do now? thank you shaun.

Go into your BIOS setup (the key to press appears on cold boot) and change the boot order to make the CDRom the first boot device. Then you will be able to boot into the XP Pro CD. Let setup run, then choose "Repair a previous installation". This will take you to the XP tools. Use fixboot and fixmbr to make your hard drive bootable again.
