Comment: medion laptop wont let me format it and reinstall windows xp home i put the home disk in go through all the setup delete the partitions. create new partitions format it using thorough ntfs it gets as far as please wait setup initializes your windows xp configuration and instead of it continuing too the windows xp installation screen it goes back too the setup screen again right from the beggining and even though ive formatted it over and over it still insists windows exists on the hdrive any help would be appreciated thank you

Reply: (edit)disk size is 60gig i only created one new partition and the cd is new installation disk i have the genuine win xp code on machine as i bought it 2nd hand used but never got recovery disks with it i cant work out why it keeps looping

Reply: (edit)Might be caused by an embedded BIOS. Some of the manufacturers have s special code and if it doesn't match up with the correct disc then it won't allow installation. Check for an updated bios from the manufacturer. Reply: (edit)I agree with Lurkswithin. If you haven't wiped the drive clean and deleted the recovery partition (a format will not do that), you might check the Medion web site and find a way to restore the box to the way it came from the factory.
