I'm not a computer genius, but I do know some things, like when something is wrong, how to install hardware etc. I really need help.
I have two hard drives on my PC... C & D.
C is my newest Western Digital 170gb drive,
D is my old Fujitsu 13gb drive.
Problem:
C was used alone with D still installed but not active. Had a friend help me activate the D drive to look for some old files,
and to fix the Raid Controller which was not active at the time.
Noticed that D had windows XP Home still installed on it. C, which is my main drive, has Windows XP Home also
installed on it. They are from the same disk. The drives are now partitioned, with Windows running dually at bootup,
which caused my video, sound, printers and some programs not to work correctly.
I do take care of my pc, using Norton systemworks, Adaware, update Windows drivers etc.
What I need:
Please help me to uninstall Windows XP Home from drive D so that I can keep it running and use it only for storage.
I play online games frequently and really need to have my PC up and running without having to do reinstalls and lose the
important data I have.
Any help would really be appreciated...I've looked everywhere for a solution, and cannot seem to find the right answer.
My MB is: AMD Athlon xp+2400 1.99ghz

If your getting a dual boot menu at startup, then you need to edit your boot.ini to remove the entry to the other XP install. Then backup any data you want on the D: , and use Disk Management to format it.
Typical XP Boot.ini
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptInAddition info : http://www.thpc.info/how/editbootini.html
