I am installing Windows XP home on Tyan Triniti KT-A with an Athalon 1000 CPU, 256 mg, and a Seagate 20 gig hd. It was originaly a Windows ME system. I am doing a clean install from a formated drive, however, booting from the CD using, an ME floopy. It begins with the normal DOS screen loading drivers and then copies files to the hard drive. After this it indicates the Setup is Loading Windows at which point it stalls. You can see it do one read of the CD before it dies. The system has the lastest BIOS, all other cards are removed except the Graphics which is a ELSA Glatica 511, and the BIOS virus checking is off. Whe have copied the I386 to the hard drive and tried during a flat install with the same result. It has a new Sony CD and so I am out of ideas? Any one with something out there?

the new cd sony are you using the old cable with it to motherboard, if so use the cable that came with it, if i understand you correctly the install gets past copying files to the hard drive and then reboots(you didnt say im assuming) and then stops on the loading of hardware drivers,is this guess right?
if so you have incompatible or malfunctioning hardware

Try not to use ME Boot Disk. You can insert the WinXP Home CD into the CD Rom and change the boot sequence in BIOS to boot from CD. Then follow the on-screen instructions, you will be able to do a claen formatting of your harddisk and installation of Win XP Home. Enjoy.
