Hello,

I installed windows xp without any problems. After the insallation has finish it restarts with no problems. Now once you have it started and then you shutdown the computer or restart, it hangs on the next startup. It gets to the part where you logon and then you hear the startup sound and the background picture appears. After that won't go any further. I tryed starting in saft mode but still the same problem.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

try reinstalling again, but remove nonessential devides (mouse, printer, scanner, etc). see if that helps ... XP handles some drivers badly, particularly older drivers, so this might have caused the problem

You may want to try booting the OS into safemode (pushing F8 after the bios loads). Then go into the Management Console (right click on "My Computer") and look through the event viewer logs for "application" and "system." That may give you some valuable insight on what is causing the system to hang.
Also make sure that all drivers are installed correctly, and if you aren't sur eif you are using XP compatible drivers for some hardware, remove those and try to find updated versions.
Hope that helps,

Sven

well you can be a redneck too!

what i usualy due when it hangs is first unplug the mouse. often times xp will hang on the mup.sys some how unplugging the mouse fixes that.

other option is, hit enter a few and then pause|break that fixes the hang sometimes to

last but not least, so you got Back ground eh\?

just press Ctrl+Alt+ Delet and got to file>>newtask>> and run the "explore" command or "explore.exe"
