I have a huge problem. I recently recieved a box as a gift from futureshop; cicero. I have no Xp disc and only cabs on a hidden partition (I think)with a restore disc. I really want to zero-fill this drive as I am missing over 11GB of disc space + a virus (I was missing the space before the virus). If I aquire a copy of Windoze Xp will it detect all my system devices and load drivers or could I use my restore disc for the drivers? Furthermore how the heck do I see this hidden partition and can I see it with Partition Magic? Also I know I can use the restore disc but they did that at the store and the system
worked crapy right away (missing inf's). Can I use this restore disc properly? Sorry for the long post but this box is less than a week old. (p.s Don't they have to give you an install disc) Thanks to anyone who has the patience for this post. Much appreciated.

0. If you write zeroes to any drive, every partition is trashed even the hidden one.

1. If you acquire a full copy of XP, a lot of your hardware drivers are going to be installed automatically by XP, and for the one or two that it doesn't have drivers for, you can use your driver disc or install then manually by browsing the recovery disc for the a driver directory.

2. Partition Magic will see the partition but this is of no use since you intend to zero out the drive anyway.

Hey Thanks for the reply. I not going zero it if I could maybe copy the cabs (make image and use nero or alcohol 120) I was just wondering if possibly access them to utilize them or possibly just format all the others partitions not them though. Is there a way to access them for the windows partiton? So that maybe I could copy and paste them? Sorry if you don't like hotmail questions just new to how the site works. Also could you tell me how to copy the windows the question i asked is in? Like when people who respond to the questions copy the question then reply.
Thanks for the help

If you are able to unhide the partition using Partition Magic, my advice is to make an image of it, wipe the drive and use the burnt image after you recreate the partiton.

You other question is not very clear to me, are you talking about screen capture.. Prt Scr pad on your keyboard...or inserting a hyperlink.

Hi cjae!

You can use the recovery CD succesfully with very little trouble. Sometimes, unfortunately sometimes the drivers do not copy properly from the CD and if that is the case go here....http://www.cicerotechnology.ca/en/support/mysupport.asp, type in your serial number and look for the drivers for your system. Unfortunately, use of the hidden partition on your computer is primarily for motherboard reset, not Windows recovery

If you did not receive a recovery CD, let FS know and they can order you one.
