Windows XP - Hard Disks turning off

June 30, 2011 at 07:43:01
Specs: Windows XP
I have an issue with power management. I run a backup at night on one of the pc's on the network, and I set the settings of the pc so that it NEVER turns off - on all fronts - hard disks, monitor, etc. The backup, which works over the network, it not working, because the target pc goes to sleep, and the backup pc cannot see it, unless I wakeup the target pc manually. What do I have to do to ensure that the PC stays constantly on and viewable over the network?

diable its power management so it doesn't go to sleep/spin down the hard drives

I've already done that - but nevertheless, if the computer has been idle for a long time, it isn't viewable over the network unless the mouse is moved. Any ideas?
