Comment:
Windows install on brand new WD 200GB hard drive, ATI 9600 series video card, Phoenix AwardBios v6.00PG. Windows install partitions and formats hard drive then proceeds to copy file but hangs at 51% with the message "Setup cannot copy file..." Any suggestions?

Hi Tim, I had same problem months ago. It turned out to be bad memory. Since XP-Install uses all the memory to write the files. When it hits a bad point then the error message is due. Once Windows is installed, this kind of memory will work with minor problems.
Cheers de Peter

I second the memory problem. I had to check the mobo manufacturers website and get tested memory for my board. I've stopped buying non branded memory because of it.
Other problems i've had though were a dodgy cd drive and also a dirty CD.
Hope this helps. Craig

Thanks Peter and Craig! I ended up having a bad memory module.
Craig, FYI I'm using Ultra brand memory and as far as I know they're pretty reputable but any electronic component can go bad.
