And it runs well.I have a Compaq SP700 with onboard SCSI-Controller, 2x9,1GB SCSI Harddisk,1x36GB SCSI Harddisk. 2x XEON 550MHZ with 1MB Cache and 1152 MB RAM.

I had the same problem. I actually saw a blue screen of death right after the lit-up windows xp screen. Never got it to work.
Ended up swapping my drive so many times that I may have killed a component inside with static electricity. power button gives no response.

Oh well..

Hi,
I have an SP700 with XP Pro working VERY well. I had to update the BIOS. I found it at Compaq's website. Just get the latest - it was an old date but worked. It seems that without this update - XP can't configure the SP700 to be ACPI compliant. After the update - all was well. Hope this helps. I really love my SP700 & XP works even better & faster then 2000 Pro did. Call me crazy but it made the scsi's even faster somehow. One word of caution. I haven't and seem unable to locate drivers for the 1394 Firewire adapter - I just disabled it in device manager and rock on. I never use it anyway. All other drivers were installed automatically by XP. GOOD LUCK
