Hello,
I have a really strange problem which has kept me awake a few nights already. When ever I play music i.e. mp3 files or play a video. Windows XP just stops and goes to black screen. The monitor does not go to standby mode. But my PC just seems to go dead. I thought at first was sound card/video problem. But I have REMOVED all of cards from my pc. I have tried a different video card and a different sound card. I have reinstalled Windows XP. I have flashed the BIOS. I feel like I have tried eveything. My systems works fine as long as I don't listen or watch videos. I don't know what else to do. I am thinking that it might actaully be my motherboard. I have reseated my RAM. Which caused my system to act strange.Had problems getting it to reboot again. I am able to play video in safemode with no sound and it doesn't reboot. I am also able to watch video when I disable my sound card. This sound like would be a sound card/driver issue. However, I have tried my sblaster on board audio and my external Hello,

I am also able to watch video when I disable my sound card. This sounds like a soundcard/driver issue. But I had a pci soundblaster live card in there. I removed it with all my other cards. Currectly I am using the on board sound. Both do exactly the same things. Only thing I could notice is that the soundblaster live lasted a little longer, then rebooted. Very frustrating.
Please ANY help WOULD GREATLY appreciated.

right click on the desktop.
select properties.
select screen savers tab.
click the power radio button.
Accross the top is the different setting for the different ways to put the computer to sleep.
but the main one is near the bottom.
it should say never.
if any other than never change it to never.

Hi.. No my problem is not that. I am fully aware of the power management settings. My problem is more severe. I wish it was that then I woulden't have one. My system basically dies. It's not the screen saver blanking the screen.
Thanks.
