Help I just upgraded from windows ME to windows XP home edition. I also had windows XP use the NFTS file sytem. (which I didn't know would cause that much problems) I just want to reformat the hard drive and then reinstall Windows ME. Then when I reinstall windows XP then pick the FAT32 file system.
1. how do you format the hard drive in windows xp so I can reintall windows ME?
and start over? My restore cd's for windows ME won't work since they are in a differnt file format.I apprciate any help that I can get thanks.

You need to set your BIOS to boot from the cdrom as first boot. Then boot with the XP cd and it will allow you to format. You need to do a clean install of XP which can be done by starting to install XP from the upgrade CD. It will at some point ask you to insert your ME disk to prove it is an upgrade and then finish installing XP.

The easiest way to get rid of an NTFS partition is this. Find a Windows ME or 98 boot disk (hopefully you have the one that came with your PC). Boot the PC from this disk and choose the "start computer without CDROM support" option. At the A:>, type fdisk and hit enter. Choose Y for any questions that pop up. From the menu, choose the delete partition option, then the delete non-DOS partition option. This will delete the NTFS partition. You must then create a new partition and make it the default partition. Once the drive has been checked by FDISK, you can reboot and boot from the restore CD. Should take care of it. If not, email me and I will send more detailed info.
Hope this helps,
