Okay, recently my Windows XP has been playing around just after I installed MSN messenger 6.1
he problems with windows are, 1. even though there is only 1 user on the computer when I start up the computer it wants me to log in, even though there is no password set. 2. the login screen and shutdown screen have gone to the classic windows style, when my windows is set to xp style. 3. my menu wont display the windows picture anymore, not that it's a major problem. 4. my Modem speed has slowed

I would do a spyware check to see if my machine has been compromised. If none found than try a restore prior to the occurence. I would also use Trillian vs MSN, Yahoo, and AOL messenger services, works well and less problems with spam.
