Windows XP error code 41

What is an error code 41 mean???? Both my CD ROMS (one being a DVD writer./rom) both have that as an error code and the computer can't find the hardware when it was working just fine yesterday .. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP !!! thank you !! Tanya

"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)" solution; Reinstall the device. This is a legacy root service that didn't create a device object.
If the device is a non-Plug and Play device, a newer version of the driver might be needed. To install non-Plug and Play devices, use the Add Hardware wizard. Click Performance and Maintenance on Control Panel, click System, and on the Hardware tab, click Add Hardware Wizard.
if all else fails, run system restore to before the problems started.
