windows xp cpu resources sharing

Specs: Windows xp pro 64-bit, athlon II x3 440 3.0Ghz
I have this windows XP problem. When I'm doing cpu intensive task (all 3 cores = 100% usage) and try to play a video in youtube, the video is choppy.

But when I try windows 7 with this setup, the video play smoothly because one of the cpu cores gave about 5% of its resources to the video (as seen in task manager).

So why can't xp do the same? Is there a way (tweak or something) to solve the problem in xp?

Are XP and Windows 7 running on the same hardware? If not, you should already know the answer. If you are dual booting on a newer system then XP is most likely not able to take full advantage of the hardware. Windows 7 has a number of improvements in task scheduling and use of multiple processors.

There really isn't anything you can do about this.
