hi there.
here's the problem, i'm running windows xp pro edition and it can't find the MAC address for my network card (RealtekRTL8029). It can find the card though and says it is working. I can also occasionally connect to the network, but others times it won't. I have updated all the drivers.
Thanks for any help

Open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all

This will show you the phyical MAC address for all adaptors that you have installed and enabled.

if it sees the card fine (such as in Device Mgr) but finds no Mac address, I'd get a new card. I don't know this as being possible, being hardcoded on the card and all and nothing to do w/ SW. the ipconfig /all should do it, it'll be to the right of "physical address" and should look like xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx

yeah,
when i start a cmd instance and type ipconfig/all, it does bring up all the details but the MAC address is all zeros.

Description.................Realtek RTL8029
Physical address............00-00-00-00-00-00
and so on.
That was what i meant by saying the os doesn't get the address. Every once and a while it will give the address though, but not very often. It's really strange.

Does the card work if you disable it and then enable it again. I am having the same trouble. When I disable and then enable the card it reads the correct MAC address.
The MAC address on start up is FF-FF-FF-FF-FF. But when I disable and the enable it gets the right address.
However there has to be a better fix.
