I am setting up a new Dell Laptop computer with XP Home to connect to our local "Office" workgroup. I connected to the workgroup and mapped to a Windows NT network share. All this was done while on a hard line. Once I setup the wireless connection and disconnected the hard line I can no longer access the Windows NT network share.
I checked to make sure that Netbios was installed on the wireless connection and all the settings seem to be the same as the hard line connection. I can ping the Windows NT box but can not connect to it no matter what I try.

Verify that WEP or WPA settings are the same for the wireless card as the AP. I'm assumming from your post that you are making a physical connection to the AP?

Jennifer:
Yes the firewall is enabled on the wireless and on the hard line. I already tried it without the firewall with no success.
SysLock:
WPA is fine and the wireless connection works great. I can get to the internet and ping the NT box I am trying to connect to. I just can not access the shares on the box or see it in the workgroup.

How are you attempting to access the shares? What errors (if any) are you getting?
Life's more painless for the brainless.

I don't know much about NT but http://www.microsoft.com/technet/ne... refers to a RADIUS server needing to authenticate.
It's either that or Remote Access needs to be setup.

Jennifer:
I am trying to connect multiple ways. First we have a network drive created on the computer from when the hard line is connected. When on wireless is says "Microsoft Windows Network: The network path was not found"
If I go to run and type \\Dell the name of the server or try its IP then it says "Unable to find network location"
If I go to view work group computers it is not in the list.
SysLock:We are not running a RADIUS server.
